Acute Pain vs Chronic Pain As we know acute pain is short term & tend to be more associated with damage or possible damage to tissue. "Pain is less to do with injury in his our bodies and more to do with our central nervous system it's like the volume knob on our pain system has been left turned up like a radio stuck on 'loud' persistent pain can take over a person's life it's really important to understand that you can 'turn the volume down' again, but it often takes effort and time.

You may hear "nerves can get sensitive" what does that mean when you get injured, it is normal to experience soreness both near the area of injury and in other areas around the actual injury site. For instance, after stubbing your toe, you may feel pains spreading over the rest of your foot or up your calf, which is a normal response to the injury & the volume around that area is temporarily turned up it's helpful at first & remind us to slow down & avoid doing more injury as we heal sometimes pain can hang around for longer than is helpful.

What does that mean we can call this persistence pain which is often related to extra sensitivity the "buzz of chatter" among our nervous system starts to set up self-reinforcing "feedback loop" nerves send msg around the body & they change response to what we do and the world around us. Importantly, nerves continuously change how "sensitive" they are in response to what is going on around them, like turning or on the radio. Sometimes this can lead to big changes in pain levels without immediately obvious reasons.

We will design a customized training program for you to start with, and we coach you and monitor your progress closely. We will prescribe relative rest or modified activities as required. In addition, the patient's education helps to reduce frustration and encourages compliance.
